Disney's Continued Soft Reset
Added 2024-05-01 17:25:15 +0000 UTCGood afternoon, everyone! Sorry for being so late on a post today... we've been incredibly busy with getting all sorts of news stories ready. That said, I wanted to stop by and give you a heads up at yet another piece of evidence that Disney is attempting a soft reset to reach out to moderates and conservatives. They realize they have a real problem here. I'm not sure their solutions are the sort of things that will resolve the problem though.
In this case, there's a new story about President George W Bush having his paintings shown at Epcot. Since Disney loathes the current form of the Republican Party, they're going back to a president they can work with. The only problem here is that President Bush isn't very popular these days with really anybody. I don't hold any animosity towards him, but I don't think very many people look back on the War of Terror and think it was a success. I don't think many people view the war in Iraq as having gone the way we would have wanted. That's not to say Bush is bad or that I want to take a hard political position -- it's just that I'm not sure this is going to win the day for Disney in trying to reach out to the middle. You're perfectly free to hold your own opinions about his presidency... and I'm not speaking on my own behalf here.
But this is yet another example of Disney in the past few weeks trying to make connections that they can stomach. The Chosen is on Disney Plus now. Internally they're working to find ways to not offend Christians. They've been utterly silent on the Evil Queen controversy -- which is probably very hard for them given that in past years they would have celebrated such a thing.
But here's the article if you'd like to see what I'm talking about. In terms of efficacy at their goal, I question it. But I take no issue with former presidents showing their art at Disney, and I certainly applaud shining a light on Americans who have given their all. Let me know what you think.

I doubt this will work in Disneys favor. Showing President Bush's paintings is just a superficial gesture that most will see straight through. If Disney wants to make nice with moderates they need to start producing entertainment we actually want, fix all the problems at the US parks and get out of politics.

2024-05-01 17:56:16 +0000 UTCI don't have a problem with former presidents showing their art either. I will shake any president's hand even if I didn't vote for them. I'm actually surprised by the topic of his art and the hobby. I didn't know he had taken up painting!
