Disney Fires Back at Gina Carano Using Harvey Weinstein's Former Lawyer

It's a crazy, mixed-up world... but not even I thought Disney would pull this one!

It's one thing to go after Scarlett Johansson with Weinstein's former pit bull attorney. You know, the guy who makes the girls shut up? But when Gina Carano has been put thru the ringer already by Weinstein's former personal assistant -- who, oh by the way is also the showrunner for The Acolyte -- you gotta start wondering about all these connections leading back to one place.

So, Bob... so, Kathy... why is it you seem to be fighting Gina Carano to the miramax?

Now, of course, Daniel Petrocelli (the attorney) isn't just the lawyer for Harvey Weinstein. He's represented a number of Hollywood entities in the past. But given that he has been accused of hushing Weinstein's victims with extreme language, maybe it was time for Disney NOT to use him, particularly with the shared connection. One has to wonder if Petrocelli is familiar with Ms. Headland given their shared past pal.

Beyond Weinstein, perhaps the most famous case in Petrocelli's career was his role as the lead attorney for the Goldman family in the wrongful death civil lawsuit against O.J. Simpson. Following Simpson's acquittal in the criminal trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the Goldman family sought justice in civil court. In 1997, Petrocelli successfully argued the case, leading to a jury finding Simpson liable for the wrongful deaths and awarding the Goldman family $33.5 million in damages. This case thrust Petrocelli into the national spotlight, showcasing his skill as a litigator and his ability to handle cases under intense media scrutiny.

If that was where he had stopped, we wouldn't take issue with him being on the team against Carano.

Beyond the Simpson case, however, Petrocelli has represented numerous high-profile clients in the entertainment industry and corporate world. His clients have included major corporations like Disney, Warner Bros., and NBCUniversal, highlighting his expertise in complex commercial and entertainment litigation. But perhaps no client has been more notable, nor notorious, than Harvey Weinstein. It goes without saying that there's a reason someone like Weinstein would want the toughest-talking attorney in town to take on his victims. It's only too sad to see Disney doing the same.
