Disney Comes After Your Kids with New Little Mermaid Ursula

Well... we're after 2PM ET and I can't wait any longer to do the Patreon post for the day (plus Patreon has been experiencing technical difficulties). I would love to have the article that we were told was coming any minute that would potentially alter the Disney shareholder vote... but it's not here yet and the clock is ticking. The longer it's not available to the public, the less likely it is to really impact how institutions vote. Today is when almost all remaining votes will come in.

So move forward we must. When the article arrives... possibly from an outlet that starts with F... we'll cover it. And, as promised, an exclusive here on Patreon on it if it arrives today. If it's tomorrow, gotta cover it on The Pro Show.

All of that said, I do have another topic that I think is really, really important.

It has come to my attention that Disney is releasing a Little Mermaid cartoon on Disney Junior this summer and that it features Ursula as a cool aunt. One of the most evil villains in the Disney roster will essentially be a sassy friend who outshines Ariel's dad and makes her interested in visiting the human world. This will be promoted to two-year-olds, three-year-olds, and four-year-olds. And, of course, the entire roster of characters are either race swapped or dark-skinned newcomers. It's not that it offends me... it's just that Disney has become a total parody of itself.

Frankly, I think that parents of all children of all ethnicities should think twice before putting their kids in front of Disney Plus. The idea that these kids are going to be presented with a version of a sea witch who steals souls and attempts to destroy lives... but is actually cool and better than the overly strict dad... it's just gross. And it's going to make for very confusing messaging when these same little kids watch the original movie. Not only that, but it creates another strange message for children -- black Ursula is cool, original Ursula is evil. Or in the case of Melissa McCarthy's version... black Ursula is cool, white is not.

That's a totally unnecessary racial situation created, yet again, by a Disney company that seems to want manufactured racial division.

One of my favorite kids' shows of all time is Family Matters. The difference in that show and the shows of today from Disney is that nobody every thought Family Matters was offensive because of race. Kids of every color thought of Carl Winslow as a dad they would love to have. But shows like Family Matters and Fresh Prince also didn't invert morality. Today's Disney stuff does -- turning villains into heroes, sacrificial father figures into stiffs.

Keep an eye on what little eyes and ears are watching these days.
