That Park Place Receives "Cease and Desist" Letter from Black Girl Gamers

Happy day everyone!

I apologize for not getting something out yesterday. It's not too often I have a fourteen-hour day with no breaks from beginning to end. However, we've had some interesting developments that required attention.

One interesting development is that Black Girl Gamers had threatened legal action against That Park Place via a no-response-allowed 𝕏 post. We strongly believe that the statements in their threat regarding the journalism, research and conclusions of the site, are false. We've never been provided with any clarification as to which statement featured on the site is incorrect. Given that John Trent used screen captures to assess the opinion of the article, and those screen captures came from BGG and/or its personnel, it's not obvious what is in error.

All of that said, about 24 hours later, John received a cease and desist that goes very far in its declarations. It is not a simple request to amend or delete an article. At this time, I cannot yet talk about what the cease and desist says nor can I say what the response will be. I can only tell you that a response is forthcoming.

Free press is one of the most important aspects of a free society. Without actual journalism and reporting, things go south very quickly. Without freedom of speech, there is no corrective mechanism to keep society away from very bad decisions. It's why many feel that freedom of speech is the foundation upon which all other freedoms depend. It's also why it is so important to defend. While there are significant risks to defending oneself against threats of legal action, that isn't to say there are no risks to cowering or doing something that seems to betray truthfulness.
