Partisans WANT Marvel Embroiled in Politics NOW

As I said in the video where Steven and I reviewed X-Men 97's debut, there is a clear effort by some to destroy Marvel. The way that you can do that is by making it be a show set in the 90s that tackles extremely divisive issues of today. You retroactively have the characters talk about issues that hadn't even been invented in the 90s, you make clear reflections of modern, divisive concerns, etc. But for the most part, Disney was careful to diversify background villains enough that it muted criticisms of all the lead baddies being white dudes who look like they come from red state cultures.

The YouTube commentators didn't take the bait though, and because they didn't dive into outrage, now the agitators are hoping to stir it up. Joe Russo on Twitter has a million views on this declaration that Episode 2 of the show is a direct nod to a day of infamy in January of 2021. I mentioned this on YouTube (to the best of may ability -- even saying the date is trouble on that platform), and we've said that this is playing with fire for Marvel. People like Joe Russo want to make sure that Marvel is IN the fire. There's no nuance, just propagandizing fiction for the purposes of power.

The difference in the Stan Lee X-Men of yesteryear and the X-Men the postmodern neomarxists want is that Lee's characters were allegory for embracing the infinite value of each human life. That's the message that Charles Xavier espouses as he continuously chooses to defend the idea that mutants and non-mutants are of equal value -- and he understands why humans might fear mutants. He also recognizes the converse and acts as an agent of peace.

But the postmodern neomarxists are not interested in peace. They want power. Their desire is to take their political opponents and depict them as monolithic. Then also depict them as the villains in entertainment. It's both out of a desire to ridicule those they disagree with (think mass psychosis bullying tactics), but also because they recognize that the way to keep power is to flagellate your opponent in fiction and radiate your self-evident virtues in said-same cultural franchises. That's the gameplan. And when it destroys those franchises -- as luckily these anti-Truth, anti-rataionals are still a minority of thinkers -- they don't care because they never really loved them anyway. They just loved that others loved them... and they could use them for power.

So if you destroy Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney Animation, etc... who cares? And if you need to make darn well certain that everyone is crystal clear X-Men are beating up on your political opponents... it's a sacrifice worth doing. After all, they don't agree with Xavier anyway.
