Using Art to Change the World
Added 2024-03-19 00:55:02 +0000 UTCGood evening!
I hope everything is okay in your world this evening. I thought it would be nice to share something with you that I am working on apart from what I do on YouTube and the typical Pro persona. I am, in my private time, working with an effort to provide a new type of homeless shelter concept that might actually help pull people out of homelessness. It's a totally new concept that I can't discuss too much except to say that it is related to a pilot program that could be a national model in a decade or so. Currently, efforts to help reduce homelessness are pitiful to say the least.
One of the things that I am involved in, particularly, is providing art work that will be available for people to see that might evoke a feeling of hopefulness and resilience. Many of the people who are homeless have been through extraordinary trauma. The ability to overcome that trauma is paramount for their ability to reintegrate into some form of normalcy. But some of the individuals are sadly illiterate. They need something to resonate even when words cannot.
I've been working on symbolizing the idea that if you reach out to the Greatest Good, it just might be sufficient to lift you out of the darkest places that have crushed you in the past. At the same time, I don't want to be so dark in the imagery that it might be scary or painful to view. Hopefully I'm striking the right balance.
In the comments below, let me know what you think.

I like the second one better because it shows connection to Light.

My mom has a good friend in the Tampa area that feeds the homeless her ministry name is "Thorn Ministries", and she is also a former Christian recording artist (local that is, no big record deals, although she is that good.) Imagery helps so much. I am in a bit if a dark place myself and Christian art def helps to communicate to me I am Loved and not alone, it brings a reminder of hope and no words are needed. Thank You for sharing this. One of my favorite places of solitude is a Beautiful Catholic minor basilica in Orlando (Our Lady Queen of the Universe) Adoration chapel behind the altar. It is so peaceful, and I could spend hours there in total beautiful silence. Good Luck and Bless you in this new venture. π β€οΈ
