This heads up is a little late but I still have an obligation to post about it:

I'm a little salty about this because I do not offer any special benefits to my patrons (except eternal gratitude and appreciation) and do not make sales yet some of my patrons were affected. Patreon serves me just as an automated tip jar but yet!
One of the benefits listed is a discord role, but my discord is open to the public and this is by no means exclusive thing.
I also offer to download the artwork I made - this is however not exclusive content locked behind a paywall, all of it is available for public on other platforms.
This sales tax can go as high as 27% (you can see more info here https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/205259549-VAT-Value-Added-Tax-on-Patreon) and I find it very unreasonable that if a patron pledges me $1 not only they might be charged $1.27, but I also get less than that 1 dollar because other fees.
I have adjusted the tier benefits to be listed as "general support" (which they are).
However, I must note that whether the patron is charged that tax or not is based on their location, and this is not something I can help beyond what I've done.
