Psionic Ch. 82 - Back To Earth

[February of 2013]

[Earth: NYC]

3rd PoV

House of Andrew.

Inside his room.

Space itself seemed to warp and contort, as if bending to the will of an unseen force. A small rift materialized, appearing as a mere pinprick in thin air.

Slowly, the rift expanded, accompanied by the disintegration of the surrounding space. Crackling and shattering, the phenomenon settled into a sizable portal, roughly two diameters in width.

In a matter of moments, a foot emerged from the portal, followed by another, revealing the figure of Andrew, his expression serene and composed. With a simple wave of his hand, the portal dissipated into nothingness, leaving no trace of its existence.

Andrew's psionic senses swiftly swept through the house, ensuring that all was as it should be. Satisfied that nothing was amiss, he effortlessly willed a change in his appearance, transforming his attire into casual clothing. His face underwent a remarkable transformation, shifting into the iconic fragmented glass-like visage that defined him.

With a burst of energy, Andrew propelled himself skyward, effortlessly phasing through the roof and rendering himself invisible to the naked eye. The rush of wind whistled past him as he soared amidst the breathtaking clouds, his presence concealed from the world below.

Swoosh!

Pausing amidst the lofty heights, Andrew's consciousness extended its reach, connecting with his clones scattered across various locations. He delved into their memories, seeking insights and information. However, as he delved into the recollection of the clone stationed in New York, a furrow formed on his brow.

"Matt?" Andrew muttered softly to himself, his voice barely a whisper, as he read the memory with utmost scrutiny. Something about what he had discovered troubled him deeply, sparking a cascade of questions within his mind.

As Andrew absorbed the memories from his New York clone, a sense of urgency gripped his being. The situation was dire, and the stakes were higher than ever.

The Inhumans had made their presence known on Earth, and the Avengers were gearing up for a formidable battle against Maximus, the Inhuman antagonist hailing from the moon.

Maximus harbored a sinister plan to unleash a devastating bomb upon the planet, one that would indiscriminately transform countless normal individuals into Inhumans.

The final moments captured by his clone's memory filled Andrew with a mixture of dread and determination. The clone had witnessed the T-Bomb brought down by Maximus, and alongside the Avengers, valiantly attempted to halt its destructive potential.

But as the clone molecularly deconstructed the bomb in a desperate effort to neutralize it, a blinding white light erupted, engulfing everything in its path.

With bated breath, Andrew watched as his clone struggled to contain the unleashed Terrigen mist, summoning forth a force field in a futile attempt to impede its spread. To his dismay, the mist effortlessly bypassed the protective barrier, its insidious tendrils permeating the surroundings, spreading like an ethereal fog.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Andrew swiftly teleported to the exact location where his clone had stood mere moments ago. His first action was to deactivate and store the clone within his sub-space, preserving the memory for further analysis.

Turning his attention to his immediate surroundings, he found himself amidst a surreal landscape, the air thick with the whitish mist of the Terrigen.

As Andrew's gaze swept across the scene, his eyes landed on a familiar face that stirred a whirlwind of conflicting emotions within him. There stood Matt Garetty, the very individual responsible for the demise of his past self.

The memories of that encounter surged to the forefront of Andrew's mind, igniting a spark of resentment deep within his fragmented glass-like face. However, he swiftly suppressed his turbulent emotions, understanding that the immediate situation demanded his focus.

Matt stood alongside the group of the Royal Family of the Inhumans, his hand interlaced with that of a short-haired Royal Inhuman. Andrew's piercing gaze locked onto them, curiosity mingling with a sense of caution. He pondered the significance of their connection, the bond between a perceived enemy and a member of the esteemed Inhuman lineage.

On the other hand. Matt's senses flared up as he whipped his head to the direction of the floating faceless meta-hero. His mind was going through ideas as he failed to come to a conclusion why he felt the guy to be so familiar and why does he felt a connection with him.

As Andrew flew down and positioned himself before the gathered Avengers and Inhumans, a serious expression settled upon his fragmented glass-like face. His narrowed eyes remained fixed on his cousin, the one who had caused the demise of his past self. Yet, amidst the turmoil of conflicting emotions, another pressing question gnawed at the back of his mind.

How come three days have already passed?

Perplexed by the inexplicable passage of time, Andrew's mind worked at a rapid pace, processing information and running calculations with unparalleled speed. His enhanced mental capabilities, allowed him to engage in parallel thinking, exploring various possibilities simultaneously.

Time seemed to bend and twist within the depths of his thoughts as he considered different theories and scenarios. And then, like the convergence of disparate threads, an idea emerged, taking shape in his mind. Drawing upon his vast knowledge and experiences, Andrew found himself drawing parallels to a beloved movie from his past life—Interstellar.

The notion of time dilation, of hours spent elsewhere translating into days passing in the world he had temporarily left, struck him as a plausible explanation. The notion that he had stumbled upon a phenomenon akin to the temporal distortions depicted in the film resonated within his analytical mind.

A sense of awe mingled with curiosity as Andrew considered the implications of this revelation. Just as Interstellar had delved into the mysteries of time and space, he now found himself confronted with a similar enigma. It was a realization that both intrigued and unsettled him, for it meant that his absence had carried far greater consequences than he could have imagined.

The piercing scream shattered the momentary stillness, capturing the attention of Andrew, the Avengers, and the Inhumans. Their heads swiveled towards the source of the sound, their eyes widening in alarm as they witnessed a woman enveloped in a swirling mist of Terrigen. The ethereal mist seemed to cocoon her, heralding a profound transformation taking place within its embrace.

Reacting swiftly, the Avengers hastened to the woman's location, their minds racing with concern and uncertainty. Their collective knowledge and expertise were put to the test as they faced a situation they had not encountered before. Amidst the urgency, a voice rose above the din, capturing their attention and providing a glimmer of insight.

Gorgon, a member of the Inhuman Royal Guards, stepped forward, his gaze fixed on the unfolding scene. With a measured tone, he shared his understanding of the situation, illuminating the process at play.

"She's undergoing Terrigenesis," he explained, his voice laden with a mixture of awe and concern. "It is the transformative process unique to Inhumans, where one emerges with extraordinary abilities."

Steve Rogers, his face etched with seriousness, sought further clarification. "What exactly does that entail?" he queried, his eyes locked on Quenn Medusa, a prominent figure among the Inhumans.

Queen Medusa, her regal presence commanding attention, met Steve's gaze with a measured expression. "Terrigenesis is a profound metamorphosis," she elucidated, her voice carrying a weight of authority.

"During this process, the Terrigen mist interacts with an individual's genetic makeup, unlocking latent potential within them. As the mist envelops and shapes their essence, they emerge as Inhumans, each with unique abilities that are a reflection of their inner selves."

The gravity of the situation settled upon the gathered heroes. They now understood that what they witnessed was not just a random occurrence but a pivotal moment of transformation. The woman within the cocoon of Terrigen mist was undergoing a profound rebirth, emerging as something extraordinary.

Their focus shifted from the immediate chaos to contemplation, as they grappled with the implications of this newfound knowledge. The convergence of Inhuman and human destinies on Earth, the ramifications of Maximus' actions, and the emergence of new beings with extraordinary powers all converged, demanding their attention and adaptability.

As chaos and confusion gripped the streets of New York, Andrew swiftly took control of the city's communication infrastructure, hacking into screens and speakers scattered across the buildings. With his trusty camera floating before him, he positioned himself as a beacon of hope and authority, ready to address the alarmed populace.

Clearing his throat, Andrew projected his voice with confidence and determination, ensuring that his message resonated through the entire city. The confusion on the faces of both Inhumans and Avengers gave way to rapt attention as his words echoed through the streets.

"People of America! Fear not," he reassured them, his voice carrying a reassuring tone. "The scenes unfolding before you, the cocooned individuals and the Terrigenesis process, are not to be feared. They mark the beginning of a transformative journey, a rebirth into something extraordinary."

Although I must express my disapproval that this occurrence was forced upon us by an evil mastermind, let it be known that we will not yield to fear. I personally undertake the responsibility of rectifying this situation, and I vow to vanquish this malevolent force."

With a firm and resolute tone, Andrew concluded his live stream, leaving the crowd in awe and realization. The impact of his words reverberated through the crowd as murmurs of his superhero name swept through the air. The moniker took hold, representing a symbol of hope and protection in the face of uncertainty.

""Psionix!""

""Psionix!""

""Psionix!""

A satisfied smile crossed Andrew's mind as he contemplated the impact of his words. "Hmm, good PR indeed," he thought, bolstered by the realization that his message of hope and assurance had begun to resonate with the people of New York.
