Web DM Talks Factions Patron Version

Hey y'all! Here's the ad-free version of this week's show, which is all about FACTIONS and how to run them in a way that's both dynamic and not a crapload of work and a huge letdown if your party doesn't end up really pursuing it. We talk about some tools from a few games and links to them are here: https://pelgranepress.com/2011/12/21/nights-black-agents-competition-2/

We've got a fun lil supplement that goes with out content this week, which is our ANNOTATED INDEX FOR RUNNING FACTIONS in D&D! We went through all the official books that we thought had really actionable content for running factions and collected all those resources together - there's a lotta stuff there that's gold, but it's often categorized for different purposes and is spread out over hundreds of pages. so take a look! Hope this is of use to you. Let us know!

Got a Q for you Guys:

The recent Sci-fi Talks made me think about running a Sci-fi game myself. But the way thinks are right now in my Group it seems unlikely I get them to switch system any time soon. So I might have to make 5e do Sci-fi.

So my question is what do you guys think are the pitfalls in reskinning everything to be a hard-isch sci-fi setting instead of fantasy. Especially while not changing the mechanics too much.

How do you deal with character deaths and making new characters when a players character dies close to the end of the campaign or at the penultimate moment. With our campaigns theme of being gritty monster hunters, every session could be a characters last. That said, we've had only one fatality so far. I do want to be prepared however to guide a player should their character die 2-4 sessions before the end of the campaign. Thank you for you're time and the great content!
