Well holy fucking shit, people.

I am writing this with shaky hands because I, admittedly, am NOT a battle-hardened soldier and this shit is scary, but I will do my best to describe what is happening right now for the people not in the know.

Avalon is fighting Lung. Right now, presently, at this VERY moment and time. The PRT got here in mere minutes after the battle started, cordoned off the entire Market area, and Channel 8 News were quite literally right behind them. Turn on your TV and tune the hell in right now because what I am seeing is hard for me to believe, and I'm watching it with my very own eyes in real life.

Minor backstory: Lung attacked him in his civilian identity while he was seemingly eating out at Fugly Bob's. I'd just so happened to be eating there myself for a late-night treat(love their bacon cheeseburgers), and received a first row showing of the murder dragon blowing up the front of the restaurant and threatening everyone inside.

Out of both respect for their privacy and respect for PHO's TOS, I will not be going into any sort of detail on the civilian identities of any parties involved, but I do want to say thank you to the heroes on scene for helping with the panicked clusterfuck that occurred after Avalon blasted Lung out of the building with a God-honest lightning bolt.

I'm sure the situation would've been much more hectic without you both taking control.

Now, I'm ending this post here so I can pay full attention to this battle of the Titans that is occurring right in front of me. Lung is torching the beach to glass and Avalon is treating his fire like its kindling. I don't even know what the hell his powerset is anymore. I give up.

@Chaosfaith We put it in the WIki, but the theory is that Avalon gets faster and stronger over time - kinda like Lung, but less dramatic and it's PERMANENT. It's possible that he's just been getting faster and faster over the last few days.

The PRT isn't worth SHIT to Avalon, and they stopped being worth shit to me years ago. He came out of nowhere and, over the course of a fucking month, did more to cleanse this city of scum than the government's done in entire YEARS. Cry all you want to, but mark my fucking words: This is a paradigm shift.

Maybe @thatdude is onto something. @Avalon or @Iris, hit me up if you need more manpower. I'm not a cape but I'm former military and have taken out capes before, and I know a lot of good men and women who'd love to fight the good fight without stupid red tape bullshit. At exactly 11:00 PM, after slaying Lung and taking his gold-encased body and head as a trophy, Avalon proceeded to do his first ever interview on Channel Eight News, an international news channel that has already broken multiple previous records for highest concurrent viewers in their channel's history.

In normal Avalon fashion, which we are all starting to grow accustomed to, the young hero proceeded to dominate the interview with a burbling wit and effortless, overwhelming confidence.

It's important to note that he proceeded to clear the sky directly above the interview sight to assist with audio issues. An unnecessary but eye-opening flex of his endlessly growing powers and overwhelming intensity.

Within minutes, he'd already revealed multiple factoids that helps all of us watching from home understand more about him and the choices he has made throughout his short career here in Brockton Bay.

1.) Obviously, Avalon is a young black man. His girlfriend, confirmed to be 'Iris' of Team Invictus, is presumed to be of Chinese descent. He became a cape in order to, in his words, 'selfishly' make Brockton Bay a place where they and other people of color could live without fear of lynching and discrimination. Of course, there is nothing 'selfish' about this desire, but that is the origin of 'Avalon'.

A young black man wanting to fight racism.

2.) Lung attacked him, unmasked and in a public restauraunt, because he saw Avalon as a threat to both his reign as the 'Sleeping Dragon' and his illegal sex-trafficking business spread throughout the Docks. Lung saw absolutely no issues with breaking the so-called 'Unwritten Rules' in order to take out what he deemed a threat to his tyranny.

3.) Because of a combination of the above two points, Avalon has decided to, in his words, 'cut out the infection' lurking within Brockton Bay. From my understanding, this means that he is simply taking the fight straight to the supervillains who prey upon our people - the two most prolific ones being Coil and Kaiser, who 'run' Downtown.

Only, he went above and beyond. Attacked earlier on in January by Hookwolf during an outing to the mall, and now attacked once again during a similar outing by Lung, Avalon has deemed it necessary to pierce through the fragile and delicate veneer of 'civilian identities' that protect these evil men and call them out directly by their real names.

Max Anders, CEO of the internationally-acclaimed Medhall Corporation, known for their pharmaceutical chains and, with a bit of subversive research, ... questionably-reputed employees. Avalon claims Max to be Kaiser, leader of the Empire-88.

Thomas Calvert, former decorated PRT Field Agent and current paid consultant for Parahuman affairs throughout the different PRT branches dotted through New York, Brockton Bay, and Boston. More interestingly, contact with Thomas Calvert has been impossible after Avalon's declaration of war against his alleged alter-ego, Coil.

It has only been fifteen minutes since the interview ended, but Avalon is a Trump whose PRT Rating has been up in the air for many days. He has shown an alarming display of abilities, seemingly without limit or exhaustion, and it isn't far-fetched at all to believe that he has a way of confirming or proving these allegations.

I teared up during the interview.

The conviction and passion this young man spoke with was almost haunting in its intensity. Say what you will about his actions, whether you call him too reckless, foolhardy, or short-sighted... he truly believes in justice. You can see it in his eyes and the lines in his face, the way he sets his jaw and glares.

He reminds me of generals, or kings who lead from the battlefield. He reminds me of my son.

A/N:

Almost forgot the author's note!

So, I wanted to put out a PHO chapter before we continued on, because it honestly would've been impossible to fit EVERYTHING into PHO if I did it AFTER killing Coil and the Empire. It would've just been too much of a clusterfuck. So! You get this now, and then we can move onto the destruction and blood next chapter. Maybe a few other POVs, too, since Avalon's making waves right now.

Lines in the sand are being drawn.

Like I said before, I apologize for the wait. Next chapter will be up soon, I'm finally out of the WORST of the slump. It's going to get harder for me for sure - these aren't things you can just get over - but writing helps me channel that emotion into productivity.
