This old book is bound in dark brown leather and has a drawing of a black cat with glowing red eyes on its cover. When found, the book contains the following spells, which are wizard’s spells for you while you are attuned to the book: arcane eye, augury, borrowed knowledge, detect magic, detect thoughts, fear, and mirror image. It functions as a spellbook for you.
While you are holding the book, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
Copycat. Once a day, as a reaction to seeing a spell being cast, you can speak this book’s command word and activate its ability. If it is of a spell level you can prepare, the details of the spell you saw appear in the book in glowing red letters, and you learn all the information you need to know to be able to cast the spell. The spell counts as a wizard spell to you, and you can prepare it just like your other spells.
Fast eye. When you have to make a saving throw to resist a spell that you know, and it’s written in this book, you can roll an extra 1d4 and add to the result.
