Life Update: Big move #2

Almost 2 years ago, I tweeted this.

I've truly been living a dream. I've been living here near the west coast for about 2 years almost. But, like all good things, it must come to an end.

I'm moving back home.

But, not backwards thankfully. I still get to keep this game development job, but after negotiations with my boss, I've convinced him to let some of the company go remote for now. As prices in this state keep going up and the money that I work half my life force away for, is going less and less far, already half as far as it did when I first moved here. Something has to change.

Everything is still super cheap back home, where I was born and raised. So, for now I go back. And get to enjoy a life where my money can go a little further now and I'm not throwing $2000 a month into a hole anymore. Also going fully remote work! So that's exciting.

Unfortunately my roommate and I are respectfully parting ways for now, so I'll be going back alone. I'll have my local friends and family back, and my online friends, but nothing really comes close to actually being around someone physically every day, so I'm going to have to be a little more proactive about maintaining my mental health. I'm pretty sure this is when I become a dog person and get a dog. Anybody have any dog tips? lmao

Overall it's been an amazing, enriching, and eye opening experience out here, I've learned a lot about myself, about what it means to live in a totally different place, and how much my family actually means to me. No regrets. Other than the fact that I have a 16 hour drive ahead 😩

In the coming weeks I may be a bit slow to release stuff as I prepare for another move across multiple state lines, but by the time Thanksgiving rolls around I'll be settled back home in my new studio apartment and eager to create I imagine! I'll also show dog pics uwu

Thanks for your support, and thanks for reading~

true that! I honestly never thought I'd ever go back. But being away for 2ish years definitely gave me a new perspective in that sense

Sounds like a thrilling change in life again.. at least demanding change. All the best for the new start in or near old quarters. Sometimes it is good, to come home. I moved due to work, too, and I am liking the perspective that, when I retire, I can go "back home" :)
