Concavia: The witch-guild of Belnódomos.

What you see here is what is left of an old sunglass beacon from before Mehter’s flood. It still stands, for it lies on the high ground of the Orness hills. It was set at such a height to better send tidings afar, overcoming the hurdles of trees and other hills. For a long while after the flood, the beacon hall stood empty, but no longer. For many lifetimes now this old wreck has been settled anew by the same folk that raised it, the Talanos, that great and tale-rich thede¹ of Talanā who once held the world under their sway and who in the last Days of Copper, brought on the great flood for their unholy fighting with the Alves of Upergora.

A sunglass uses the shape of the world to send tidings afar. The land of Concavia bends up and bows overhead, like a hollow ball, a sunglass can glint Leuada’s light to any place with no lag, unlike tidings sent by birds or over seas.

Now this elder sunglass beacon hall bears a sunglass once more and is called Belnódomos, “the bright house”, by the Talanos which dwell there. Belnódomos is home to a witch-guild, who keep whatever findings they unearth from before the great flood sound and unweathered beneath its roofs.

Thank you, and precisely, in the Days of Iron, the age that the story of Concavia is set, growth is a danger to be avoided, for with growth come the land-wights. At the end of the Days of Copper, Mother Mehter gave rise to these land-wights, guardians of nature who stir when a settlement oversteps its bounds and takes too much from the land. The goal was to ensure that people never rose again to a level where they could threaten creation, as they did in elder days. Belnodómos rides a fine line, it is about as large as a town can get without catching the ire of the land-wights. The reason why it’s built in a circle is because the ruins of the Sunglass beacon-hall were ring-shaped. I imagine the building before the great flood as a multi-floor ring with a rail along the roof, bearing a huge sunglass far larger than the one you see here. That longhouse is for the livestock, so it might be a little smelly haha

Thanks so much! That’s really great to hear because I was worried that the two projects are so dissimilar that people who like Humanity Lost simply wouldn’t be into Concavia, but it seems that’s not the case!

Brother I think I’m liking your concavia world more than HL. It’s fascinating

While a place with that round design looks cool, it limits growth. Its meant for a steady-state world where you can build-up your protective wall and not worry about the need to overflow. A very 'planned community'... I'd be the guy living in that one long-house away from the rest :)
