Thanks as always, it means a lot 🙏🏻 Yes precisely! I wanted to show a somewhat realistic multi-species space with cultural displays, political graffiti, territorial pissings, signs of past violence, littering, warts and all… That’s a really interesting question and I wish I had a better answer for you other than I was mostly using the single colour display as an artist shorthand, the reader is expected to fill in the blanks. But now you’ve got me thinking that there could actually be an in-universe explanation, that’s a really unique observation. In a scenario where there is no All-mother variable, that’s exactly what would have happened. The Conglomerate seize any possible justification for annexation and expansion, it is an empire like any other, it just doesn’t call itself one. What you said about them annexing Velousian states is correct. A Kolaxan empire invasion of Sol would be unlikely however, if you look at where they are on the map, the Kolaxans would have to get through both the Velousian and Breimheinian provinces before they could reach our solar system, there’s a bit of cushion there between the territories. But your scenario for what would happen if the Kolaxans did manage non stop victories against the Conglomerate is realistic. No need to apologise Erika, I think that’s a logically sound scenario you imagined just there and It could make for a great story set in an alternative Humanity Lost universe where things unfolded slightly differently. The catch for the short story or series would instantly draw in fans of HL “what if there was no All-Mother, what would happen to Humanity?”, it’s a neat idea!

2025-11-19 10:29:19 +0000 UTCI imagine a lot do, bodily modifications are a really big thing among the Yarkeen, but there’s no doubt they practice genetic engineering too. Back down in the market of Janudua station we heard the butcher mention genetically modified animals that breath the stations air also. I’ll be sure to include more of it going forwards, good point! These are all great ideas, I try not too make things too confusing and go on too many tangents, but this is something I could slip in with a simple speech bubble acknowledging it.

I like how Janudua Station has not just neon lighting and has been designed to accommodate multiple species, as that would be needed with members of many races living in close proximity, but that it also shows signs of being lived in by beings who are not the perfectly logical, orderly and meticulous organisms of the Imperium. There is graffiti on the walls, damage from space debris and/or weapons fire and what might be repairs done right above the damage on the right panel. I've noticed throughout the comic there are computers monitors or displays that seem to be mostly or even entirely monochromatic. Why is this? Is it because of differences in exactly how technological and societal development occurred among different species, in the form of many races developing space travel before advanced displays? Could it be because a given display needs to work for a variety of species and so they end up looking like that? Is it even possible that aliens can experience detrimental effects from high resolution and fast moving screens like humans can, and so they went with less dazzling versions? Another question is what exactly would have happened if the UE were defeated and the All-Mother was never activated. I believe that it would not have been as good an outcome as many people may think. If I remember correctly, the Conglomerate annexed a Velousian state which was their ally after a war, justifying it by claiming their ally had committed war crimes. If the UE had fallen and the Conglomerate fleet arrived, they probably would have taken complete control of the solar system with little resistance, meaning the Independent nations of Earth had effectively done the work of conquering the solar system for them. These nations would likely be annexed due to war crimes and other offenses and they would find themselves in a situation worse than the arrangement with the UE. If humanity is really unlucky, the Kolaxans may even notice the Conglomerates new plaything and attack Sol and humanity. And since Sol's location is relatively remote compared to the Conglomerate and other major powers, the Conglomerate probably wouldn't have been able to protect it even if they really wanted to. The end result would be humanity being mostly wiped out with the survivors becoming pets/slaves to the Kolaxans and possibly even rare game for poachers for those who were not killed or enslaved and now live as vagabonds. I imagine the only "free" humans left would have a hard time adapting to the galaxy at large and would fall into poverty, be forced to resort to crime, become curiosities and/or be exploited for their labor, all the while forgetting everything they were and even the idea that they once had a beautiful home called Earth with many wonders both natural and artificial that fell due to the selfishness and short-sightedness of both the UE and independent nations. I'm sort of imagining a banged up and old ship that roams the galaxy with a community of humans on it who live in squalor and take up odd jobs, resort to crime and occasionally get attacked by pirates. It's sort of a sad departure from stories about humans dominating the galaxy or being important in some other way and is instead about humans being just another species that was driven from its home by superpowers only interested in fighting each other. Sorry for the long comment and the sad little scenario, what do you think of this idea?

2025-11-15 22:39:14 +0000 UTCoh yeah, feel like i may as well ask this now before i forget haha, but i was curious when looking at lostes backstory, we saw some modded humans who have some highly divergent traits from baseline humans (like green skin or four arms, though i assume there is far greater potential for what kinds of procedures one could get), and i have to wonder, how many of the other aliens practice this? like of course the kolaxans and species with more rudimentary tech like the chantauri may not be privy to extreme body modification, but id be curious to see what other species do perhaps there are ounegg who have two legs, or velousians with fractal-like arms, or even gord with gargantuan dog-sized drones and modified root systems they can use as manipulators? perhaps some of these ideas are pretty out there, but i find it to be an interesting idea worthy of exploration beyond what humanity has done with the tech
